Not really, a large derv tank is a management tool if you have a large derv requirement.Only acouple pence cheaper than the pumps (usually) so its a matter of pure convenience rather than cost saving.

Mate drove for Sainsburys and was part of a experiment to save fuel by driving at max 40mph on A roads. Saved 15% on average.I wonder how many farmers will try to teach the young who tend to have one speed (flat out) to just take it a bit steadier this season. Ok I was young once and tried to drive the tractors of the day at max while silage and corn carting, but I wasn’t paying the bill! Can much really be saved by having a lighter touch and or setting auto speed a fraction lower?
I seen somewhere (for cars) that if you were to be stopped and idling for more than 7 seconds it was cheaper in fuel to turn off the engineDefinitely find myself turning the tractor off more often when idling. We asked about a home tank. Dealer said average 6p/l saving but attractive to thieves which would rapidly wipe out years of saving. Going past a garage twice a week anyway.
Bet you wish you had bought a few thousand litres a few weeks ago though!Haulier working out of our yard told me yesterday his trucks were filling up at the pumps as he couldn’t buy bulk for his tanks anywhere near as cheap at present.
More normal times we decided that it wasn’t worth it unless using it very quickly because the price at the pumps only had to drop a penny or two and you lost out.
Wire the brake lights to the horn!I wonder how many farmers will try to teach the young who tend to have one speed (flat out) to just take it a bit steadier this season. A company i know of, pay its drivers £100 bonus per month if they do all their paper work on time and do not exceed 70mph (trackers fitted)I wonder how many farmers will try to teach the young who tend to have one speed (flat out) to just take it a bit steadier this season. would be interested to know how the fuel saving compared to the extra wages......Mate drove for Sainsburys and was part of a experiment to save fuel by driving at max 40mph on A roads. Saved 15% on average.
That’s great till the turbo lets go as it hasn’t had sufficient run down timeI seen somewhere (for cars) that if you were to be stopped and idling for more than 7 seconds it was cheaper in fuel to turn off the engine
Tell that to the wifes bmw thenThat’s great till the turbo lets go as it hasn’t had sufficient run down time

You can be giving it large down a motorway and hit traffic and it will stop....
