I wouldn't want anyone to out themselves as having a huge stash of white diesel on the farm but wondering how viable you find it?

Only acouple pence cheaper than the pumps (usually) so its a matter of pure convenience rather than cost saving.

Haulier working out of our yard told me yesterday his trucks were filling up at the pumps as he couldn’t buy bulk for his tanks anywhere near as cheap at present.
More normal times we decided that it wasn’t worth it unless using it very quickly because the price at the pumps only had to drop a penny or two and you lost out.

If you were really switched on ( OK, not me ) you could buy quantities at the right price. Imagine if you'd bought 1000 L before Xmas.........

My neighbour tells me it is more often that not about the same money as the pumps, just more convenient. Obviously you would win if prices were rising and loose if they were falling.

Fuel depot next to us sends its tankers 2 miles up the road to fill up at the local garage!!

I wonder how many farmers will try to teach the young who tend to have one speed (flat out) to just take it a bit steadier this season. Ok I was young once and tried to drive the tractors of the day at max while silage and corn carting, but I wasn’t paying the bill! Can much really be saved by having a lighter touch and or setting auto speed a fraction lower?
considerate driving will save a significant amount of fuel, and reduce maintenance considerably also.

Probably... he'll be the man with more fuel than you and not moaning as his knackered stuff won't be knackered again and on here looking for a cheap bodge to unknacker it before it's knackered again.

We got a white tank when the local garage closed, it's often a similar price to garages in town during normal pricing times but a bit cheaper than country garages. No big savings but it's nice being able to fill up in the shed.
