On Track guidance system -anyone got any views how good they are?

Just been thinking about the onTrak again ,as we need to buy something now the grant application was accepted !
If we hadnt got the grant ,I would have gone for the Garmin , but seeing as the payment is 400 odd for the GPS ,it make sense to buy the onTrak or similar.
I did look at the Patchwork Blackbox too ,but its twice the money and not sure as dairy farmers we would make use of the extra feature (If there are any :p )

Garmin Glo , SteveR posted about it in page 1 . 90£ new or so ,and you can use your smartphone I suppose ,and download an app, !!??
As we were fortunate to have the grant accepted  ,I felt having guidance on the bonnet via the leds was better than trying to keep my eye on a screen to the side all the time , and the Garmin wouldnt meet the criteria for the grant either !
I have an old I pad ,and have a cheap bracket - Happy days (possibly )

Go for it .let us know how it goes . Suppose to be better than just screen or just lightbar.

I got the grant and bought one (OnTrak).
Main use will be for spraying when I don’t have tramlines to follow, but to give it a go I used it whilst discing some overwintered stubble.
I am impressed with it. I’ve not used any other type of lightbar guidance, but I can say it is very easy to use and having the guidance lights at the front of the bonnet makes a lot of sense.
The battery lasted a full day and still had a lot of life left in it. The app said 90% left, but I don’t know how accurate that figure might be.
Accuracy seems very good although it did go a bit off when I was working close to a row of trees.
It’s great not having any cables all over the place and the Bluetooth connection was faultless.
I did have a problem connecting to my iPad, but Agricision quickly replied to my email and put me straight. ha ha! I hadn’t turned on Bluetooth in the OnTrak app.
Hope that helps.

If you have an old tablet, you may find it lacks processor capacity/speed.
I have a new Samsung and the app will stop working quite often on that, meaning it is reluctant to save a field boundary and needs app closing and restarting.
It may well do all you need, it is simply stick to bonnet and go; but it isn't as good or intuitive to follow as my Mojomini, which I'd put on par with the Patchwork.
May not matter to you, but Ontrack only does straight A-B lines.
The lack of wiring looms etc with the Ontrack is, as you say a major plus though.
I guess I'm saying if at all possible to try both before deciding, I urge you to do so.

I might have read it wrongly, but I thought the Grant criteria said that it would only sponsor guidance systems which could do both straight & curved A-B lines ......... Only too happy to be wrong

You are correct. The OnTrak meets the criteria because it has the potential to do curved but currently only does straight.
I think that’s what they said.

Has anyone used this in the United States? We are looking into buying the OnTrak device and can't seem to find any information for the United States.
