How? I must have DVDs sat in boxes in my garage that are 10 years old at least!

Don’t know tbh. I don’t think they are all equal. Went through some old dvd-r that should have had loads of mp3 files on them and quite a few were unreadable.

I read something at the time about moisture getting between the platters(?) and allowing the recordable part to degrade.

The first computer I used was a ZX81, upgraded to a whopping 16k of memory. The programs were loaded from tape. It took about 5 minutes to load 16k. None of those tapes now work. They are all oxidised.

Now using OneDrive it still takes about 5 minutes to upload a 30k excel spreadsheet which still only shows the same monthly VAT account information that I used to process on the ZX81.

No doubt if I had a faster connection there would be a big improvement. That isn't the fault of OneDrive.

I'll probably need a 4G hub to improve speed.

So we have come a long way but we haven't.
