One heck of a workshop project - Bi Rotor Combine

As said, John Deere bought the patent and shelved it. It was way ahead of its time even as a prototype.

You can see features like the tracks etc that are now in modern machines. The potential with that machine was enormous, look at how simple and modular it is. Some speculate that JDs bullet rotor was based on the bi rotor. I have seen JD prototypes with the paddle unloading system.

It really shows the difference between a farmer engineered design vs a trained engineer design. The rumor we heard is that mark underwood still has the prototype at his farm. A couple friends and I were going to go visit him but never got around to it.

Check out the Rostelmash RT 490. That uses a contra rotating concave . It is also sold in the US as a Versatile. I think Versatile own or have an interest in Rostemash in Russia.
James Hunt Of JPM the Versatile importer in Lincolnshire was supposed to be importing them for the 2016 harvest but I have never heard of one working in the UK.

What a fantastic home project. Great idea, would love to see it in production, so many possibilities to do more with it.

Im sure this has been covered on here before i was just getting combine videos up for Dad on the Ipad as hes stuck in the house atm. Heck im impressed with this, some clever guys. A 17 year long workshop project and end up with a pretty cool combine. Dare i say it, it looks a pretty simple threshing design.

This is awesome. Why the hell isnt this in production? If jd do own this, why didn't/haven't they produced a machine. They could monopolise harvest. That'll increase their margins.
