Anyone experienced this and suitable chemicals for control?
I am told it is not problem in commercial crops so something must kill it.
Best crop of leeks ever in my garden and find it is full of the damn things!
yes I have my tickets :)

Nothing approved for amateur use. Insect proof netting does good work. Ditto organic producers.

Commercial growers douse crops with insecticides for thrips so leaf miner not a problem. Thrips resistant to many insecticides though.

Dursban withdrawn you naughty person, spinosad ok though:

Insect exclusion mesh will do your job organically.

Tracer (spinosad) is approved for use in organic crops, as this insecticide is brewed from a soil bacteria.
Apparently niether of these are a good option.
Spinosad will indeed control leaf miner , but will need applying every few days . The mesh is not a good growing environment but possibly only real option.

The mesh is an excellent growing environment providing useful warmth and shelter, keeps off leek moth too, but might boost humidity worsening rust.
