Open air arena (music/comedy venue)

Anyone run such an event and know the pro's and cons. Have a historic disused quarry thats grassed over which would probably seat 3-5000 but with 28 days a year it seemed a big job to get off the ground. Now if its 56 days it seems to make more sense but just wondering on pitfalls. Have done a small event in the past 300 head for eldest daughter birthday. but had to cancel same sort of event for younger daughter as by then facebook had arrived and it went viral so the 300 was heading to 3000.

There's talk of the 28 / 56 day allowance could be extended to 6 months.

If that happens it could get really interesting. From what I have read 500 seems to be a limit I need to get around some how.
