opening cab windows

We have a valtra N92 with side windows that are sealed . The air conditioning has packed up and I cannot justify the £1000+ quote to fix it. The tractor doesn't get used for a huge amount. Is there anyone out there who can supply kits to enable me to have opening side windows?
All I want is a bit of fresh air in the cab.

I'd guess the price of hinges,securing latches and seals would be considerably more than the cost of repairing the air con. At £100+,I'd think it just needs regassed and sealed and maybe the dryer replaced.

We have a piece of flat steel 6" long with a hole one end and a bolt welded the other end , it fits into the door latch and keeps the door open by 6" , great job in very hot weather and cost nothing

100 is just a drop of pee in a lake when talking about tractor maintenance.

our old 399 series had a spacer for the door, great job. AC left the throat very dry and sore.

if you can’t afford to mend the air con you may aswell sell the tractor and go back to a horse

Surely that’s a typo you could just about get a whole system fitted for that.

I would seek the advise of a different aircon man.

your right. Couple of pipes,gas and a radiator needed

over hauled my mc cormick,s air con 2 years ago, went through the whole system, top of cab off included it cost £500.

Many of us have lots of more important things to spend the £1000 on than tractor aircon - if it isn’t a main tractor you might only really need it for a few days a year. And we all know that if you fix it the weather will be cold for the rest of the summer!
(This wouldn’t apply to the main ploughing tractor - aircon every time!)

I wouldn't buy a tractor without plenty of fresh air ventilation. AC is great when you are sat in the seat for 10 hours solid, but bloody awful if you are doing a job where you are jumping in and out all day.

But if your tractor has got a hermetically sealed cab, I'd go with the homemade spacer suggested earlier, but be aware of the extra strain this will put on the hinges as the door won't be supported by the slam lock.

Will admit the aircon on our sprayer doesn’t work. But for the few hours here and there I’m on it I can live with it. If however I had to be on it all day for several days in a row like bigger farms it would be sorted as a matter of priority.

Everything else including the forklift has working aircon here however.

AP air seem to have most stuff, bought combine bits last year and we're s third of dealer price for the exact same parts.

AP Air are good chaps who know their products and their applications. Bought a blower motor for a JCB 530-70 from them and it is a better quality product than the original (ball bearings not bushes) and 1/5th of the JCB price.

They have some motors for our JD2040 LPU which we will be ordering shortly.

Apparently, a pipe and valve to replace but the expensive piece is the radiator section at the front.
