On top of my old dryer ignition coil is a set of points. Does anyone know how they work. Getting no spark. Box is clicking but these points don’t move.Have by passed everything else. Hadn’t used the dryer for 4 years and fired up first time when I was checking it. HT lead fell off when I loaded the dryer and was resting against casing. No spark since. ( It’s taken 5 weeks for Calor to deliver liquid take off bottles)

That's the early type igniter coil, and the best! Clean the points with fine sand paper, power the wires with +12 vdc and earth, poke the points a bit with an insulated screwdriver, should start buzzing. If that works it should be OK at the spark plug.

Thanks. I’ve already cleaned the points. Should they be touching, that’s how they were when I took it apart to clean.
