Opportunity to generate some additional income from the land.

Hi all,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post.

What I am trying to achieve is to establish good, healthy relationships between farmers and metal detectorists.

In UK alone there are approximately 30,000 metal detectorists and the number is growing every year.
Unfortunately night-hawking and trespassers have given the hobby a bad name but the vast majority of metal detectorists are very decent people moved by a genuine interest in History and the uttermost respect for farmers and their land.

The demand for land to metal detect is huge and ever-increasing and while getting permission is the number one struggle for metal detectorists,
at the same time there are many farmers all over the Country that are actually fine with the idea of opening their land to metal detectorists.
For these farmers the opportunity to generate some additional income is massive.

A new free platform to connect farmers and metal detectorists in a healthy dynamic is finally out there:

The platform it's free and it's called RelicPass - https://relicpass1.sharetribe.com/

What I would like to ask is to please share this with farmers you know may be interested and may benefit from this.

On RelicPass, Farmers can post a listing free of charge where they open their land to metal detectorist, either:
  • For Free. Earning from selling their produce, provide overnight accommodation (e.g. B&B) and other services or simply because they are interested in finding out more about the history of their land.
Free donation for selected local charities are also an option that the farmer can specify in his or her listing for instance. The farmer decides.

  • Or for a Fee, making a direct profit. Farmers can set their own rules and their own price.
For farmers, participating in RelicPass is a way to generate some additional income from their land.
For metal detectorists, RelicPass solves the number one struggle which is getting permission.
Finally, for farmers that are not open to metal detecting it is a way to take permission requests out of farming forums.

I do appreciate your support and I am open for any questions.
Many Thanks
Fabio

When booking a listing on RelicPass, Metal Detectorists are required to acknowledge and abide by the 'Code of Practice for Responsible Metal Detecting' and 'The Countryside Code' and must have NCMD Insurance.

RelicPass also provides the opportunity to leave comments under a listing where Farmers and Metal Detectorists can give honest feedback about each other, ensuring transparency and ultimately providing a great experience for other hosts and guests in the future.
