Hi,would the discs be low enough if the framework was lifted level with the frame as mine is a 4m model so I have to think about wings.what size Rams have you used aswell please
HI, If I understand you correctly you mean if I had mounted the disc mounting bar at the same height as the main frame. I dont think the disc units would run deep enough if mounted at same height as frame. I could not do it anyway (without splitting frame in half) as the drawbar is in the way.
As for ram size it is approx 3in in diameter; waaaaay too big I recon but they were sitting in the corner of my workshop from an old scrap dung grab.
Hope to get some weather soon to try out on the sb; One small field is very heavy amg so . Will post when tried out properly!

Would I need the front depths wheels with the discs on or could I get away with not putting them on ?
As I have no wheels N mine I wouldnt know. But have a look at Claydons leading disc with shoulders

I think something like this might work and do away with wheels??? Maybe only a couple of shouldered discs as depth wheels behind the tractor wheels so trash mightnt be a problem?

Ok. Complete sucess -I now have a different machine!
Just finished sb and even the heavy amg caused no trouble. Only caught one or two sods on the whole job and it never plugged the drill. Hydraulic system works well but might move the brackets a little. Discs cut beautifully although they couldnt manage to cut the wickla rocks. Hydraulic great for letting them out!!!
Next project to make a double metcalfe type coulter
