Salt blocks usually do the trick. If it’s on lambs you’re hoping to sell soon and appearance matters, good quality manuka honey clears it up quicker.

Udder cream is good to mix in various types of antibacterial products.

We used to add a teaspoon of lincospectin powder to it then mix well. Then apply with your hand around the mouth wearing nitrile disposable gloves.

Lincospectin is not as available now so could be substituted with something else.

Alamycin Antibiotic spray if the skin is broken, if the skin isn't broken , which will be the majority of the lambs, it'll just take its course.
Skin breaks due to thistles and briars especially if they're short of grass and they have to graze in tight to both.
Would only have to treat 5-10% here in an outbreak when I used to get it but am vaccinating now.
Reason I started vaccinating was it stalled the thrive for weeks sometimes

Presumably these lambs are weaned by now, so no danger to ewe’s udders? Let it run it’s course. There is no cure, only ways of speeding up the drying of the lesions.

Any tried and tested methods of prevention, other than scabivax?
even scabivax doesnt cover all the strains , years ago all lambs vaxed at a day old , still got it again in autumn , maybe not so severe but enough to put brakes on selling ,
had it this year badly in older lambs about july (when thistles came through) looked awful , within a month you couldnt tell they had had it , just a bit light around muzzle .
