Looking at starting an organic suckler cow farm, just wondering how many cows and calves I would be able to keep on 16ha , spring calving and selling weanling at 8/9months

Is your ground suitable to outwinter on bales/standing hay ect? Usually plenty of organic poor quality grub suitable for suckler cows about, depending on cows I’d aim for 25-30, smaller breed Hereford/AA/Stabaliser keep it very simple.

1 small/medium cow per ha. More if its one of those organic farms that suffers from spray/fertiliser drift at night time. More again if they're indoors and fed on that cheap organic silage from next door
