I was reminded of this thread by something @Farmer Roy posted yesterday - he showed his contractor using a flail mower to get rid of rolly poly weed (is that what it was called?) between his wide rows of chickpeas. The contractor had removed some flails so-as to get between the rows but leave the crop alone.

Earlier in this thread there was discussion of doing something along those lines. It's got me wondering if I could adapt my flail mower to do this. It will depend on the spacing and width of the flails relative to the drill spacing of course. The roller on the back might have to either go altogether, or be replaced with a bar with some wheels on it at the correct spacing. Hmm.

It also ties in with one or two articles in the latest Direct Driller magazine in respect of getting a permanent understory of clover going and drilling into it.

Morning New Puritan.
I know you mention you're looking to adapt your flail for doing this.
would you be open to purchasing a new flail to adapt? so you an ensure you get the right size for the job
Razorback are offering a range of different flail size.
