Before planting your next crop check the labels for those products used on the previous crop as some have following crop restrictions or cultivation requirements before drilling the next crop. Zypar has no following crop restrictions, although we do recommend that you plough before drilling soyabeans, clover or sunflowers.

What have you replaced osr with as a cereal break?

grass and hard work ( some into little bales hay/haylage) !! and lambs

Not full rate but too much. I had rbwh and i had it too hot a mix. I got away with it year before but not last year. So changed approach - moved onto Kyleo pre spring barley drilling and then zypar.

I pushed it and got my fingers burned

we need more honestly - there is no product or anything that can be done re CSFB - it’s a simple luck thing

It is so easy for Agronomists, Scientists to supposedly know all the answers about controlling CFSB, the trouble is it is not their bank accounts being hit for six , when OSR fails due to CFSB.

I take a lot what farmers say about their own successes particularly with a pinch of salt. We are all motivated to portray to others an overly rosy assessment of reality. For example, some no till farmers like to explain away failures / reduced yields as just a one-off, or down to some other factor rather than their down to their new system, whereas any perceived improvements are automatically entirely due to their new favours system. Some are worse at this than others of course.

Never a truer word said. Forums are dated and getting repetitively boring. You Tube with farmer videos is slowly taking over because whilst editing occurs it’s being filmed and narrated/presented by farmers and you can quickly tell within a few minutes if it’s genuine or not.

Well this years osr is sh1te, why ? Too wet to long . Best rape under trees over old Dykes and drains . Next year maybe maybe not . It has become not a crop of must have but why have it this yr or any .....

I might try 10 acres next year just to keep my seed merchant gojng. I am going to have a vintage working day sowing ye olde oilseed rape with the Alvan blanche brush box and parmiter harrow onto Cambridge rolled ploughing like we did in 1978 when we deliberately lost the moisture and had stonking yields of Bienvenue harvested with an MF525 with no fancy bed modifications whatsoevwr.

I have one more year to complete the rotation on a contract farm so fingers crossed I will get it away three years running before switching to another break crop for three years if the cropping rules continue. At home I grow forage rape for seed and hope to keep going as it is financially useful as well as agronomically, maybe the secret is a very wide rotation?
