Osr not dying off

Hi one and all.

The past couple of years we have had issues with our campus not seeming to die off after dessicating. Roundup flex has been used as per agronomist advice but still after nearly a month it is still very green and a nightmare to combine. Pods are at the point of starting to shed but stalks are the problem.

Just thought I would see if anyone else was experiencing something similar whether it is just an issue we are finding or a variety thing. If so anyone have any recommendations for a replacement variety? Before I hit the old RL for "inspiration".

Many thanks one and all.

We have grown django and blazen this year both good the blazen did ripen earlier that’s for sure and cut easier, generic roundup and cut about 2 1/2 weeks later easily and straw ready to bale the next day. As we share the same agronomist I’d say it’s a variety issue!

I’ve grown Campus for years and never had a problem desiccating it. We’ve been cutting bits of fields last week where some just won’t die. Some have started growing again where we left a bit unsprayed for seed!

I thought you had been with django for a couple of years now since we saw you at the arable event. Hope that new drill is going well for you!

Yes I’d change the spray set up not the campus. Use Firebrand? I find it never works that well in a dry time. Wish I hadn’t sold the swather TBH.
Or just grow a semi dwarf and it will be full of larvae and dead in June without needing any help at all.[emoji6]
We were talking about the swather and potential need for one for the future depending what happens with glyphosphate anyway. Lol.

There’s your big problem water quality we will only spray roundup with rain water all collected off the roof, we started to have these issues, since setting up water collection we get far better results and also half your water volume. Yes django for a couple of seasons with blazen new this season, drill has done us proud this season, see you’ve joined the sandal wearing community of direct drilling too!
