Why plough for OSR?

Just wanted to get something down and the top is a bit wet to subsoil it in plus it’s too sloppy for any kind of torque on wheels. It’s dry underneath though. I want to keep osr going in well and early(!) as we will be busy enough over the weekend and next week given a better forecast.

I thought you had a sub soiler/ seeder or is to wet? Worked some land to get a chit for oats this morning was working down beautifully.

That is pretty much what I did last year. In the last field but one, it pee’d down with rain so had to stop. It all looked fantastic till the end of November. Then lost 85% of it. The 15% left yielded less that 1/2tonne/ha.

where have you found this better forecast,its apparently going to p down all night north of york south of newcastle ,the forecast ive looked at has a few hours of 100% which is going to put the kybosh on anything till after the weekend and problaby mon/tue by the look of it but live in hope

Contract HEAR OSR getting a bit of slug

damage. We treated ,2 fields pre drilling with gypsum but left another as a bit of a control with the idea of trying post wm if required. Let's see if it works?

having just looked out this morning can only assume that brisel s faith in the forecast must be a carry over southern trait .Am I the only one who has noticed this wet august has coincided with his arrival up here . ho ho
