Our Queen is struggling

I think what the monarchy offers is a sense of continuity, a sense of identity and a valuable window on the history and traditions which have led to the country we have today (for better or worse).

Those so keen to see the end of it have no viable alternative other than a republic with a president. Essentially we have that already as the Monarchy have no political sway, they are really a showcase, a window display, an archaic trinket from the past, nothing more. They don't rule us in the way they once did and in the way the Russian Tsars ruled or the French nobility ruled, each resulting in their eventual demise.

I reckon Charles is a decent bloke who is a true countryman and passionate about farming and land management in the way I believe most of us are.

Would your missus be happy you were giving Camilla a good seeing to whilst married .... thought not

At the best you'd be short of a couple of gonads
It was the Royal insiders that prevented Charles marrying a divorcee that caused much upset first time round

Camilla has been a model consort and been a fab partner and made Charles happy

Probably confirms why a commentator said he was full of self pity

Personally I’d love to have seen Charles pushing a wheel chair or other means of conveyance for The Queen

32 days to go and our Wonderful Monarch will become the World’s second longest reigning Monarch

We all owe her so much
Would give a tremendous boost to many other poor souls, wheelchair bound, to see her still getting out and about. But maybe there are other issues that make it impossible for her to be exposed for too long.

He should have been allowed to marry her in the first place. Not Machiavellian plans behind his back, shipping him off away on a duty he wasn't eligible for and getting her married off to Parker Bowles. Just because she had a past.
It was cruel.

Not trying to be awkward, but for what reasons do you feel we owe her so much?

Maybe I'm unappreciative but I struggle to fully understand the benefits, of the role of the Royal family in todays society. Think alot of William and Kate, but they'll have a hard time in finding a balance in a society with such a big change in values. The pictures of them on their recent tour, with william dressed up in uniform, just seem so strange. I very much doubt that anyone will give the unquestioning support to the Royal family, that the Queen enjoyed.

A whole lifetime devoted to duty and service. Think of all the Prime Ministers she's called for an audience

Country always before self

Integral part of our governance both as head of the Church of England and Parliament

Amazing representative for the UK at home and abroad

If you're not happy with it there's plenty of republic alternatives
