It did look a bit staged for cameras . Would they really use a rake like that haymaking.
She always looks a bit dressed up with lippy and bangles and a skirt .Maybe the rest of the time she wears a boiler suit !
Good program though if a bit idyllic .
My first job as a kid in the hayfield was using a rake like that going around the first swath, pulling the first cut grass back,so the plate on the finger bar mower had a clean cut for the outside and last swath. It was a long way around a 20 acre field for a 7 year old!

I can’t help feeling the dairy guys with robot milkers, high tech equipment and half million pound sheds and the arable guys using auto steer and quarter of a million pound combines must be looking at us hill guys with great amusement.

Yes we are :p

I look across to the mountains every day and thank my stars.
On the upside, you boys will be garnering the public wonga in the future whilst we cope with ever increasing vitriol

Ha ha hope you are right but I have a feeling there is less public support to maintain the uplands than there used to be. Strap in because I think it’s going to be a bumpy ride for all of us.:nailbiting:

It worried me that they didn't even have a bale sledge, let alone an accumulator and grab. Then maybe an elevator to get the bales up to the loft? Not massively expensive items and surely available from any decent dealer if no farm sales close by. Do people really carry small bales to the trailer rather than driving up to them to load?

It did cross my mind that the quaintness of it all could be contrived for the cameras but then I'm just a cynical old bachelor who looked at the statistics years ago and estimated the odds of getting landed with a nagging old bitch, half dozen whining kids, and a very large mortgage just wasn't worth the risk! They're not all like that, ya know!:D
Dont want to be harsh, but havng koids doesnt ever lok good on a balance sheet, thank fck we dont look at balance ssheets
