Ovalled wheel rim holes - how would you deal with them?

If the wheel centres don't have a tapered stud hole - then the centres will just fret away at the wheel studs will they not? The wheel nuts would only be contacting the centre on the very edge of the taper instead of right in to a tapered seat? I'm possibly just being stupid and not understanding what you mean by not needing centres that have tapered seats to match the taper on the wheel nuts.
Most centres are not tapered
Turn the nuts the other way

Now here's a thing. Just read a post from 3 years ago that says MF 500 series rims will fit straight on ok to a Leyland but the nuts are different. 500 series rims will be the same fit as 100 series. I tried MF 50 B rims(same fit as 100 series) on my 3CX which is the same as Leyland. They would not go on as the stud holes were too small and IIRC so too was the centre hole... How come?

Checked the 575 (500 series) rear wheel nuts and studs and they are 5/8 unf and the wheel nuts are cone (radius) which means the MF wheel centre has cone cut seats for the wheel nuts.

The Leyland is 3/4 unf studs and the wheel nuts are taper - - so no the MF rims will not fit the Leyland properly. They would be a tight fit - if they fitted at all and you would need to change the 3/4 taper wheel nuts for 3/4 radius (cone) nuts. I havent checked the centre size of the wheel yet.

Is this not what caused the original wheel to oval in the first place? The purpose of the taper or cone is to centre the wheel centre on the hub and to ensure the centre cant rotate on the hub causing fretting against the wheel stud. There were 5 lost or broken wheel studs on this hub, some of which had been replaced by bolts and washers.

No
Most tractor wheels are not countersunk or tspered
I had fords for msny years and i reckoned the countersunk dishes were worse for coming slack as the nut was taking the force not the stud
Ford new holland stopped that about 1990
Oval holes are caused by slack nuts for a long time or wrong size hole/ stud
