Overproduction

When subs are gone, farm incomes are going to be linked to the price paid for goods more than ever. With the huge amounts of food wasted and the low prices paid. I think its fair to say supply is currently outstripping demand. So the question is are we shooting ourselves in the foot, by forever chasing increased production?

The problem of course being if I dropped my production on my 100 acres it would make no difference to a global price.

It's the old catch 22 if you drop your production but the prices don't rise, it's a bad move, but to get better prices it is the best way to do it, thats why OPEC do it with oil.
Your right there is to much cheap food around, and that's just like the governments like it. If the balanced shifted we would see increasing food poverty.
It's not just us getting the increased price, it's all the middle men, when we get a 10% price increase the public see 15% jump. As retailers still want there cut.
I am sure there is a balance point somewhere that will keep everyone happy, but it risks shortages, which the govermants try to avoid.
