basically how to set the working depth
Working depth is set with the depth wheel adjustment. Also the turnover stops adjustments on the headstock if tgey arent set right will make ur front furrow either deeper or shallower. Once u get the desired depth make sure ur top link is roughly in the middle of the slotted hole when on the level. Its helpful to have some1 else in the field when setting a plough for the first time so they can drive and u can walk behind to watch the plough at work as u can see better from the ground if shes sitting the wrong shape

Also before u hitch up the plough take the tractor to level concrete and measure the distance of each arm from the ground ensuring there both the same, check wheel pressure are the same on rear wheels, measure distance between inside of wheels makin sure they are the same front and back as if there not the tractor wont run right in the furrow and the plough wont run straight. I had problems with this and it makes such a difference when the wheels are runnin in line

We've had overums for as long as I can remember. I find in heavy soils the xl boards work better at 16" and sometimes even cut the shares down to increase the hinge point . In light soils flush fitting points really help , they are non reversible but still last well as don't thin like a reversible one , that then bends in stony going .

The only other thing I'd add is drop the pressure to make sure all the auto reset points take grease.

I’ve also just bought an overum variflex cx and for some reason the 2nd furrow isn’t moving as much soil as the others and soil tends to stick more to this one. Also quite new to ploughing so not sure.

Does you second furrow follow the wheeling?
Otherwise, put all new points on the plough and run a string along the top, they should be dead level
Lastly alao check your skimmer width is it the same as the rest. Often front skimmer is wide but is compensated by running plough slightly narrow or shallow. Then it is robbing second furrow to make up. All skimmers should again be level with new points on

How are you guys finding the overum plough? Looking at a new 5 furrow just now. We have light stoney soil. Currently using kv with 28 boards struggles to clean.

Had an older kuhn in the past also but found it hard to set.
