Is it any better with outdoor lambing ?
We only lamb a few hill sheep outside (and only for the last 2 years which have been very good weather-wise) and, touch wood, we've never had a case of mastitis in them.
IMHO, very milky ewes, who's lambs don't 'milk them out' every time, lying on cold wet ground ,orf, sore teats etc are all contributary factors.

I think the wind has a lot to do with it. Got a valley where the east wind blows up and one year had 100 yearling with twins there and when came to shearing time 40 had bad bags! I don’t put ewes and lambs there now.

Generally find most vets don’t see enough ewes to be any more skilled than a good shepherd
Had our second mastitus case this morning, and she is a bad fettle and forgot to put any drugs in the pickup so going to,have to go back to her know.😤
