Just wondering if there are any herdsmen/women on here that run there own cows with the herd and if so what agreement do you have with your employer?

Farm owner gets the milk and pays for feeding, bedding, feet, AI’ing (but not semen if you want to use something special). Calves taken off farm at a few weeks old to be reared elsewhere. Major individual vet bills paid for by cow owner.

Sounds like farm owner can't lose and herdsman can't win with that arrangement, soon build some resentment with that, herdsman needs a nibble of the cherry, do you operate that system? as farm owner or herdsman?
