Searched the site for previous threads, but oddly nothing came up :scratchhead:.
Bascially, who's got a PA6 qualification??
Went to a NRoSO course the other day and asked about - surprising few have it!
Booked on for one soon, naturally as a tight fisted individual begrudge the £200+ fee when I am already qualified for to use a Boom Sprayer.

I’ve got it and so have both our chaps. Also got it for the Apprentice as they happened to be working here when we all got ours done.

Had to do it a couple of years ago to spray the grain stores with a hand lance

Interesting day, not as straightforward as you might think
That is how I was caught out. Left out the Knapsack checklist as I knew that would admit we had one. But of course I had to record the fact we treated the grain store. Not hard for the inspector to put 2 and 2 together.

Anyhooo sorted the couple of non-comformances (including the knapsack checklist) and booked onto a PA6.
Only have to do it once I suppose and, as some have said, could be interesting.

It’s a lot harder to properly calibrate yourself with a knapsack sprayer than any tractor mounted boom sprayer. I’d say it should be the other was around. You automatically got PA2 if you could pass PA6 !
I see your point, but I certainly dont think the ability to correctly wonder around with a knapsack is quite the same as using a 36 m sprayer, with a 6 way mix

You could pass you PA2 with a quad bike and 3m boom sprayer and just a pressure gauge and still be qualified for a 36m all singing and dancing self propelled auto rate control mega sprayer.
If you wanted and tried hard enough you could probably fine a legal 6 way mix to put in your knapsack.

Mostly people who want to actually pass the course on the boom spraying course. Quite a few council and other agency employees who see it as a day off work to go on the knapsack course, and I suspect they probably aren't that bothered about passing for various reasons.

What if you mounted a bit of pipe on the end of the knapsac lance, then put 2 or 3 jets on it? technically it is now a boom sprayer....
Not vehicle mounted though. Now if you tie wrapped the lance with the 3 nozzles on it to a vehicle you’d be in trouble!

I did it whilst I was at college. I remember the examiner asking me for a situation I'd be using a knapsack sprayer in, I said spraying a footpath which was not an acceptable answer as he wanted a horticultural example. I nearly said something rude because he had passed me that morning on the PA2 so knew that I was an ag student. Instead I sais spraying aphids on roses (I had no idea if that's a thing or not) and he was happy with that.
Did the PA4? as well which is needed for slug pelleters.
