My grandad devoted most of his life to studying (not protecting) wildlife in the New Forest and came across Chris Packam a few times. When he was in his late 80's I remember him describing Packam as an arrogant plonker.

It always pleased me that in the scientific community Packam was held in no higher regard than he is in the farming community.

my wife studied bees years ago and they did a bit for him regarding wild flower meadows. There were no bees in the planted meadow but loads flying back and forth from adjacent OSR. So he filmed a bit to camera in the wild flowers, filmed a heap of bees flying over it and was presented as a great success on tv.
