got a few thing to paint so thought Id spray them, had a basic kit in workshop that came with a compressor, so what best way to crack on, ie mixing paint with thinners, at what rate and any tips ???

Main thing is to keep your hand moving beyond the area of spraying then pull and release the trigger on the move - You'll have to follow recommendations for use of thinners until you get the hang of it and find what suits you.

Good results depend on so many different factors. Gun, paint, material being painted, workshop temperature, moisture in the air, etc.

If you have a good enough gun, you can spray some glosses without thinners and get good coverage in one coat.

But for the best reliable results, keep your paint thin enough so it drips from a rod or screwdriver and then the drip spreads to about the size of a penny on a flat surface. When spraying use lots of thin coats rather than a few thick ones. If you haven't got a nice heated workshop, choose a nice warm dry day.

If you get half way through the job and think bugger this, I could have painted it with a brush quicker, you're probably doing it right!(y)
