Painted field gates

anyone know where painted field gates can be bought these days? Don’t want galvanised on this particular area. Thankyou

Acid etch first, I tried to buy some once, but was told that the galv adds too much strength

Galv gates are the best substrate if you are overpainting. Use "T" wash or similar to etch the surface then paint should stick well. If you can find painted gates chances are they wont be well prepared under the paint so it wont last long!

What area are you in? In this neck of the woods the “Norman iveson” gates are popular as supplied by Sam turner ag merchant. Far stronger than a light tin galv gate.

How about getting a local fabricator to make you some? You could spec the steel to be used and the finish.

Just remember with anything steel that you want to paint, its about the preparation of that steel not what's going on the top! as it all looks good when its sprayed new!
Also worth remembering that galv gates are coated inside and out as are dipped in zinc, where painted gates just covered on the outside?

Use linseed oil paint. Its brill and goes a long way
