anyone know the farm ? bloody disgrace to the industry

……….. and RED TRACTOR assured !

the owner doesn’t deserve to farm - i hope they prosecute and ban them from keeping animals ever again

as an industry we must have zero tolerance for this kind of thing all we are all screwed

the fact that farm is red tractor assured beggars belief and really highlights how utterly meaningless it is
I know the farmer but not appropriate to name IMO. There were some aspects of that were 100% in defensible, some aspects that should’ve been handled better and some that I would imagine you could find and put together on any farm on a bad day with some good editing.

if we like it or not margin for most ( not all) has a bearing on how things are run. What we saw there was not lack of margin.

Edited to add - red tractor is 100% a total load of rubbish in terms of protecting animal welfare. They don’t give a sh!t as long as they can tick a box and say your doing a sh!t job of paper work and can charge you for a revisit

nothing like thar ever happened on the dairy farm i grew up on ! not even close

but i reckon there are a million new vegans crested in the last 30 mins ………. tbh it even makes me think twice , i would happily pay double the milk price to be sure its not produced like that
As I say, I haven't seen it, so won't rush to hang them.
I doubt many can say they have never had anything happen that wouldn't make particularly good viewing, if it were to be selectively edited for a programme with an anti farm agenda.

I don’t think any of us have a problem with there being lame cows or other such common problems, that’s everyday stuff that the bbc put a welfare slant on!! I think what most farmers will be dismayed at is the excessive and abusive treatment of the cows that was totally uncalled for at the hands of some pig ignorant weak minded imbeciles!!!! I hope he’s got rid of those staff an had a good look at how animals that are dependant on him are treated!!!

I would watch it if I were you before saying you don't condone etc and then going on to make it sound like widespread practice and that we cannot contain ourselves from committing some horror show that should never be filmed.

@Werzle it might be a great laugh for you and perhaps you lose your temper more than others. When stuff like this appears on mainstream primetime viewing I don;t want to be tarred with same brush.

Those staff want sorting TONIGHT

It was an absolute bloody disgrace to see that cow being dragged around with the telescopic loader. Just sickening.

The vet on farm wants shafting too. To say that it’s unfair that the sick cow had to wait until tomorrow for the bolt is just not acceptable. He should have said that slaughter man gets here today or I’ll do it and charge the farm. He admitted it was unacceptable and did nothing about it. The only caveat is that the programme could have been edited and the vet actually did put the cow out of her misery.

What shocked me greatly was that the vet being consulted said he thought that dragging the cow around was likely a common practice. That will be a huge nail in the coffin for the whole industry.

Those “men” showed abusing the cows need to have everyone turn their backs on them in silence tomorrow. And anyone above them who may be at fault.

A whole disgrace and the damage done to our industry in the last half hour of tv is greater than everything in the last half decade.

Majority will be watching corrie or out on valentines dates so i wouldnt worry too much. We seem to fret on here more than the people we think will be fretting.

Monbiot, Packham et al will be shovelling this sh!t faster than that swine hit the cow tomorrow on social media.

I thought that the NFU representation was weak and out of her depth. To simply say that another 1 pence per litre would help farmers invest in technology to look after their cows better showed that she didn't see the problem.
The problem was clearly the work place culture that was embedded in the staff, not 1ppl.
Ironically, very much in the news this week if you are an officer in the Met.
The problem is at the top of that business, not the profession.

I bet not even 500,000 watched it let alone would become a vegan due to what they’ve seen.

Yes but the majority know the truth that its a minority of farmers/farmworkers. No point getting revved up on here, your preaching to the converted.

Fair point about it being on here. it's all the anti farmer stuff that will now be everywhere else that is anger some and it really does not help when a farmer on here says they haven't watched it, don't condone it and then pretty much say what you said above, we all have to stand together when a farm is mistreating their stock. We should never look the other way or ignore cruelty and that is what the documentary showed, an utter disregard for suffering in some of the cases. Keep in mind Monbiot and his followers have lifted quotes from here in the past and possibly misconstrued them but they are still used on twitter etc

No bloody excuse for moving cows like that, hoist is for lifting, Today all farms have big handler buckets, lots of staff in that footage , there to push into bucket, I have been plastered in slurry rolling slipped cows into a bucket or onto gate with straw flaps on, that is just with two people .Totally disgusting behaviour, the farmer needs shaming the damage that has done to us. Why the heck would you lose it with those calves ,hitting with a shovel. Beyond belief, Sick cattle which have got to stage that there is no hope, should be shot same day, no excuses in my book, even it involves separate vet visit, if nobody else can do it. What a p R disaster.
