Fortunate to have at least one straight side to all my fields so never used curved guidance. Got some fert to spread for a neighbour just wondering how to select it ?

I've got an advance and on that you select it when you start the job. Going to be hard to follow without steering though, I always find the longest run and use straight.

Very hard to follow curved guidance on BB Advance in my experience as it only calaculates it slightly ahead of you. If it showed the whole line in front of you it would be easier.

Like others I resort to forcing a straight line even if no field edges are straight :banghead:

One of the things tempting me back to Trimble.

Have you had any feedback as to why BB are like this along with other issues from patchwork. Just wondered because I tried and got nowhere: it is what is is.

When I've enquired of our dealer about upgrading to evolution I've been given a vague, "it's very expensive", and essentially fobbed off. Has anyone got a running BB with auto steer or is it a myth?

Just buy a Trimble EZ Guide and EZ Steer motor, it just works and they are cheap secondhand

Is your knight sprayer compatible with ez boom?

It's not very complex. EZ Boom basically just gives you a series of switched outputs which you use to turn your sections on / off.

I'm just going to wire up a little harness that allows me to switch between 'auto' mode and manual mode. In auto mode it'll just be a relay switching the section on/off rather than a manual switch.

I've struggled with the BBeco+ as well, set the AB line straight but by the time done another run back it moves across too close. The curve line is a joke. Just don't trust it, specially for spraying.
Had it 2 year now tried alsorts, about given up with it n wondered bout swapping it for something else.

None of this is very encouraging; perhaps someone connected to or selling Patchwork ought to comment?

Just get told the more expensive ones are better.
The AB line never lines up with the area that's been worked/covered. Been bit of a waste of money really...

What do you mean by "the more expensive ones"? The difference between cheap and expensive receivers is not big if you compare EGNOS capable devices (assume a proper roof antenna for all).

If you mean by "more expensive ones" those that make use of a more advanced correction signal, preferably RTK, there the more expensive product makes a huge difference.

Consider it as a personal opinion but I feel those who promote EGNOS for drilling and such, are not doing a favour to other farmers. The same with many sales people, specifically of those who sell products that have no RTK support (or something almost as accurate).

There are many applications where GPS with EGNOS is quite sufficient like section control for spraying and driving on tramlines.

I think you can upgrade the software on line, been meaning to do it myself, but havnt. It makes a hell of a difference where you put the reciever on the tractor, but as you say some days it's way off.

I've got a blackbox upgraded to run the Advance software. It spends all of its time on a 24m self propelled sprayer and is used purely for visual guidance. When set up i.e with the correct offset of the receiver in relation to the boom, the headland distance 'countdown' works perfectly. The advance software also allows the unit to be run with 'visual' section control, therefore showing the 4 x 6m sections of my boom and shows when to turn these on/off. Basically, section control but operated manually with gps guidance. Hope this makes sense. For what I use the Blackbox for, I cannot really fault it. For a 'plug & play' straight out of the box system, it does exactly what I want.
