Hi
Picked up a Paterson earth scoop in reasonable shap at auction recently but can’t find out too much about them - main question is does anyone know the original colour these should be?
Thanks

I’ve got one of these. Google search shows leaflets with them on fordson majors, unfortunately not in colour! I found 1 in a cheffins catalogue that was empire blue, matching a major.

Here's an image (y) as a side note, how can this tractor be registered on T plate:scratchhead:

There was a scraper blade that was attached to the bolt holes seen on the scoop. We used to have several, as well as Patterson buckrakes and Fertispreads, but Rex Patterson farmed next door, and we are only a few miles from Taskers old site. When they were demolishing Taskers I remember the hut by the gate was half gone, and it was stacked with instruction books for implements going back years. One of my regrets was not liberating them before they got burnt. A friend of mine was getting scrap out of there, and we did finish up with a cultivator a prototype seed drill and a fertispread.

Years ago it was quite common to buy tractors which were not registered for the road. There was I am sure a tax reason. Provided the tractor had not been registered it could be done so many years later and they would then put on a plate which was current. It is only relatively recently that the now DVLA has not allowed vehicles to carry a later date than the year of manufacture or a Q plate

Q went to an age related plate, for T year it would have to be age related, its a very long time since 3 year old Ford escort hire cars from Jersey got registered as new.

Not sure how this one got through, I had to prove a digger was new (documents from maker) to get it T reg after dealer went belly up leaving my new digger not really registered.

Edit it is registered though;

A vehicle can still be registered as new on the road even if it was built years earlier. I have a car in my garage which was exported ( new ) to the far east, never registered there and came back some years later, with only delivery mileage. There was no issue with DVLA registering as new even though it was more than 2 years old according to the build date.

Does it say new at first registration then?
