i have a large patio which was laid about 10 years ago. The grouting is giving up the ghost.
The slabs are 500 mm concrete york stone lookalike.
The grouting is a cement sand mix
The pario is in full sun . Any easy way to regrout, yet stay fairly in keeping as I do not want to do the lot.

I think most use the powder type you buy in a bucket then just brush in, I think it goes off when it gets wet.
Ive used that and id not reccomend it.done my patio 5 years ago and its coming out.gets pressure washed twice a year.mums patio is perfect with cement sand grout that has stayed put

x3 soft sand, x1 sharp, x1lime, x1cement in a bucket. A dash of plastisizer & mix with what may seem like too little water until the plastisizer does its magic and the mix turns soft & silky. Add this to your gun & fill the joints. Mind the joints have to be clean & debris free. Doing this in a bucket gives you a break from eith kneeling or sitting as it is hard work.
Leave for a time & either trowel up or use a piece of blue 22mm pipe or an old bucket handle to leave a good finish. Brush off any rough edges a little while later & presto a lovely looking terrace again!

Brought one of these a few years ago: http://www.pointmaster.co.uk/

Mix building sand 2:1 with cement and some feb untill its nice and creamy and fill joints with the gun. Once you get the hang of it and get the mix right its really fast. Leave to set untill its semi dry (1-3 hours depending on time of year) trowel up joint with a pice of water pipe and brush excess away.

Remember to select a suitably coloured sand, and if required add a die powder. You may possabily need to do some small trail mixes first to test the colour of your mix. I use a 2:1 mix as I want it to go off rock hard and last as long as possible.

Done my first patio like this about 6 years ago - still as good as the day it was done. The bucket stuff I have seen used never seemes to go off hard, and some I have seen looks like it needs to be re done withn a couple of years.

A very big thank you Kidds. Bought one of these and have just finished the job and repointed a wall in a quarter of the time I expected. Used on local recomendation 2 parts building sand, 1 part cement mixed to a fairly dry mortar , then a big splash of Feb mix . Mixed with a mortar attachment on my drill.
Once you get the mix right it is a simple easy tool to use
