Payment timings for Mid/Higher Tier

Can anyone recommend a cheap and reliable lab for the soil sample testing? How much should it cost per sample?
Between the date of generating the maps for my current Mid tier application and December 2017, the RPA subdivided one parcel into 3, for no clear reason, so the application had to be reworked! One of the parcels is 0.0315 ha! Who are these clowns?

I am still awaiting any payment on mine...despite sending it in in May.

Hopefully, worker, you didn't make our silly mistake last spring, which was to send in a claim online.

Online claims, although encouraged by NE from the very start, weren't actually accepted until July, and any prior to that all seem to have been lost.

If you've been caught out by this, as we were, your remedy is to reapply by post (not now recommended by NE) or to reapply online.

no did it on paper...they have it on their system, but no one is working on it!! they said today if I could plead financial hardship they might be able to ask if it could get put on top of the pile, I wonder how big this pile is?

I was told i would receive my "advance" payment in 2017.
Its now 16 days past the end of the year so most definitely NOT an advance payment.

To top it off had an email asking for my updated organic certificate.

Gets boring tbh.

Perhaps you should ask for the whole of your 2017 payment when they eventually pay you.....

My HLS 2017 advance payment was paid today, so only a few months late.

They must be improving as the lateness has been reduced from 6 months to 3 months. At this rate they will actually pay the next one on time !

The cynic in me wonders if the payment was fast tracked, as I have been invited to a meeting with N.E on Friday to discuss about the erratic payments! :scratchhead:

Still waiting for last years mid payment, capital works payment & December payment- had a small fine from an inspection year last Nov- taken from my BPS!!!!
Anyone had any HLS payments- is this a breach of contracts?

Oof, this doesn't make for happy reading, but in some ways it's good to hear others are in the same boat and I haven't been singled out. I entered mid tier in Jan 2017, it seemed easy enough to apply back in August 2016 or whenever it was and they accepted me. Apart from loads of letters asking for the same things over and over again (there's one tree I'm leaving a patch round in the middle of a field they seem obsessed with having new photos of), I've not heard much from them since.

I was expecting payment in December 2017, but have got nothing. I contacted them in early January, and someone rang me to say Natural England had cleared it for payment and that the RPA would be paying it within a fortnight. Nothing happened, so I contacted the RPA after two weeks, who said there's nothing on their system to show NE had passed it to them. So I called NE, who passed me between the Reading, Newcastle and Worcester offices, and they said it had definitely gone to the RPA. So I called the RPA, who said they can't do anything unless someone from NE raises an internal query on their system for it to be investigated. So I emailed NE who apologised but said whoever it is that can do that isn't around at the moment...

I got an update today from NE to say that it has been recorded as a "defect" on the system (not sure whose), and that someone is now looking into it. To be fair the lady at NE who I have been dealing with has been as helpful as she can, she seems as stuck in the cogs of the system as I am.

I'm also fairly certain whatever it is that has clogged up my mid tier payment has also held up the BPS, as I've not had that yet either. I'm only a small farmer, but as a new entrant the income is really helpful for getting me on my feet so it's a bit of a nuisance.

it's a bit of a nuisance.

One can only admire your patience, New Puritan.

In my opinion, Natural England has been hugely, and risibly, culpable for having grossly set back all its own declared objectives within the last year (thereby frustrating its few remaining supporters) through its incompetence in having managed to let down almost all of its customers.

In particular, the Forestry Commission going in with NE has been just about as successful as was BHS in selling out to Dominic Chappell.

We have still not been paid at all for our 2017 Mid Tier scheme. I did speak to someone in the Worcester office the other day about it. As said above, they're all nice enough people, and at least this chap did manage to speak to the person who was actually working on our claims (both capital and main scheme). It was a little bit comforting to know there is a human actually doing some work on our claim, but that was a week or so ago and we still have not received any payment.

Much the same here still waiting for all 2016 and 2017 mid tier payments and bps. last spoke to a lady in Worcester office who was helpful but could not say when we would get any money. She did say that she would keep me informed, and that there was a handful of us who had not been paid anything since our agreements started in 2016. That was about three and a half weeks ago, still haven't heard anything. Getting concerned whether we will ever get paid, as we will soon be half way through the 5 year agreement!
