Paypal access code

Putting this here so it doesn’t get lost in computers and IT sub

Now, I was trying to buy something off eBay earlier and had to log in to my PayPal account. Login email and password fine but they wanted confirmation via an access code sent to my mobile number. Unfortunately I have changed number since I originally set up my account and it won’t let me on to the account to change it.
I’m stuck in a merry go round

Ideas?

Can’t find a number ... they want you to use the Community Forum ... which is too difficult to navigate

I encountered a similar problem and have been advised to do all sorts of things (by Paypal), most of which is nonsense -- see the thread "Alternative to Paypal?"

Fortunately, I don't sell much through Paypal, just buy from Ebay (and I can still do that) so my account is empty. Purchases are paid via credit card via Paypal. . (Some strange logic there if they are genuinely interested in my security which of course they are not. It is just another scam to collect personal information).

As soon as I find a suitable alternative, I will be closing my Paypal account.
