ideally you want to see it in work with a load on the web. These things can run fine with no load, but as they get older they main web drive becomes weaker to the point where it will keep stalling when you have the speed knob in the low numbers and a heavy crop on the web. When you turn the dial up to increase the flow it will grab hold and go with such force it will fire the potatoes over the top of the star cleaners, thats the sign that the drive motor/flow valve is on its way out

similar applies to all the other vary-speed valves on the stars, dolmans and elavator, make sure they will throttle right down under a good load without stalling, its a good indication of the general condition of the machine

wheel bearings are a bit of a weak point on them, had one fail where i worked and the wheel did come off

lots of sensors and wiring on the lifting gear for auto depth control, make sure that all works ok

windrowing kit is handy addition, as is an oil cooler for the main pump

there was 3 pumps on ours, 1st one drove main web, second drove stars and dolmans, 3rd one drove elevator
