@kiwipete think he did pea mix for balage this year
what about lowering pea amount in the mix and lifting oats
or even a annual ryegrass to fill in some of the bigger gaps in the mix or annual clovers
peas can be a prob to wilt down even with hotter weather here and dry soils under it

was that a 50\50 mix ? did put in a small amount of oats in with mix this year but peas over took it and did not really come to much

It was 6 or so years ago now, but yes I think it was a 50:50 mix. We undersowed too. Mowed, baled, wrapped so it was peas and oats mixed with grass silage.

yes baled and wrapped fed to weaned calves

That's what we did with it. Very happy with how it worked (y)

I did a pea and barley mix 50/50 and undersown with grass. The peas overtook everything and smothered everything underneath. Ended up with soggy bales of peas with very little of anything else in aad to reseed most of the field again :(
Oats might be better than barley but i wouldnt risk a reseed under it gain personally though plenty do succesfully
