Lanark was a funny old sale last week. I have the distinction of buying probably the cheapest tup on the day and it was a sheep I thought I'd have to pay through the nose to get the breeding I wanted then sheep I'd dismissed as being big simply due to fat or marginally unsound made considerably more. Breeders who had great sales at Carlisle weren't smiling after Lanark and vice versa. Different markets different tastes I guess.

Im sure I heard your name being called at one point.
Some vendors that I spoke to weren’t all that happy with their trade. I’m happy with my purchases though.

@shearerlad one or two of the folk I knew there thought their lots had been 'blown through' without much effort. The usual bigging up hadn't been repeated to the bidders or without much enthusiasm.
I know Lanark is not first draw for a lot of consignors but for others it is their big day. It must be disheartening to watch your animals being sold in 20 seconds as was the case for the tup I bought when other lots seem to be given all the time in the world. I felt so guilty I gave the vendor a few quid for bringing my tup back up the road rather than hoping for any luck.
