The only way to get into sheep which delivers an acceptable ROI. Buying a flock of ewe lambs or 2 tooth's would scare the shite out of me. Imagine having that much cash money invested in stock ???
Yes it's buying draft ewes and breeding them up to something is what I would do if I needed more ewes in a hurry. Probably tiny wild ones off the hills of Snowdon and then play hell that I can't keep them where I want them :ROFLMAO:

About 25 years ago, I was hosting a visit by members of an Agricultural Discussion Group from Perthshire. We were in a field of in-calf Limousin x Friesian heifers, bought in as calves, and destined to be sold with calves at foot.

One of the members, a Land Agent, was concerned that I had an awful lot of money invested. On of the older died-in-the wool farmers remarked wisely: ''these are growing into money''.

And if its any consolation, an Overdraft (if you can service and eventually repay it) is an Asset rather than a Liability. But it requires a bit of nerve and business nouse - and a wife who doesn't worry too much.

The other merit of Lleyns is that they are the supreme sheep when it comes to the high-jump stakes.

We still have an extra top rail round the sheep pens, a legacy from when we were daft enough to have a few Lleyns. And we still haven't regained our lost reputation.

Dont agree with everything you say, but hard to argue with you on this. Instant cull tag for jumping here. Problem is when one starts doing it and within a few days she has several friends joining her. Landed me in a spot of bother with my nearest neighbour as well.
