Have finally bought some pedigree cows and calves with a few more to come,
i know its an expense but how much hassle is it register and keep these cattle pedigree and their next calves.
This is only a small herd (25ish) cows to clear up fields a cannot cut for my haylage business,I’m not interested in
showing but just like good quality cattle thanks.

I presume you paid more because of the pedigree so you should keep that up to date. You don't need to register all of them but surely will help when you sell some?

That depends on the society and its website.
Holstein UK - very good.
Aberdeen Angus need a 9 page instruction leaflet to navigate their system. and that is a ballache.

No idea re Simmental. But all societies need annual registration to keep themselves in handbags, you'll also need a prefix for your herd and then it's £X to register a calf. Some need DNA as well - particularly after the limousin debacle on paper parentage.

Some AI bulls have royalties added to registration for the breeder, which can make a calf around £100 in fees before it walks.
