Why r u choosing that particular make

A relation has one and is in a totally different league to the Esse I have. The one they have has the pellet attachment so you can autostart at any time in the morning without getting out of bed so long as there is pellets in the hopper. Then when your up you can revert to logs all day saving the expensive pellets. Its so controllable between cooking, HW and CH. With the option of only HW in the summer. Really excellent engineering but reflected in the price as there not cheap.

These guys sell the Lohberger.

We have 1 and very pleased with it. You can set it to come on by timer, set up a thermostat control, or use an app, or just push the button.
The pellet burner burns into the log chamber so if there's logs in there it will light them and once logs are going well the pellets cut out.

Ours is just cooking and HW, though we found It was producing plenty enough hot water with just a heat leak radiator in the boot room so we put in 1 further radiator.
The only hesitation I would have is we can struggle to get the oven up to temp for baking. Coupled with the extra hot water, this may suggest a set up issue which renewable John has suggested a fix for but our supplier is saying it's correct as it is. We may experiment with this in future.

If you don't want to be using logs I would suggest you look at other options as a dedicated pellet stove should be more efficient. But we wanted a "real fire" and have plenty of logs, so this takes the hassle out of lighting it, and makes it more flexible to be able to use the timer so it lights before we get up in the morning. We are in a very well insulated new build so don't run it all day, hence the importance of ease of lighting.
We only used about 1/4 ton of pellets last winter using the pellets basically just for lighting or early morning usage.

It looks great too, as everyone comments when they come in.

Hi Poorbuthappy, I've been looking for someone with direct experience of owning a Lohberger, as I'm trying to find an alternative to our old Esse WD, and the pellet/log option is quite appealing. Zeroridge don't have a display model and contacting the manufacturer was entirely fruitless! Would you mind if I compiled a few questions to ask you? Geoff

No problem.
Pm if you prefer.

Hi Poorbuthappy, Thanks for taking the time. I'm assuming your Lohberger has been running for a couple of years as your post was 2019?
Over that time has there been any reliability issues or need for replacement parts to speak of? I understand that ignition coils may need replacing periodically. You say it's set up for cooking and domestic hot water, which is how we would have it. Is a 200 litre hot water cylinder and a single radiator adequate in your view?
Did you use the supplier for installation, of someone local? I see you're in Devon, we're Somerset so could be good to use an installer who's done it before.
Have you been able to claim any RHI payments on the outlay for the supply & installation?
Best wishes, Geoff

Hi Poorbuthappy, I hope you are not completely tired of answering questions about Lohberger cooker ranges as I really would like help from an experienced Lohberger user. I have wanted a Lohberger pellet/logs range cooker for 15 years and now I am at last in reach of getting one for my self-build house. I also live in Somerset, like Foerster58, and I am hoping to acquire and instal an almost unused secondhand Lohberger LC80 with pellet hopper and heat protection spacers - I think it is the 2011 model (no water system). I have been trying to locate an installer in the south west of England but no luck so far. Please can you tell me who you used to get yours installed, and any general advice on running one and any problems you have encountered with the cooker after having the Lohberger running for a number of years. Kind regards from MRM
