Surely this is only fair, why if you have chosen to work and be taxed abroad should you be entitled to UK pension rights having not contributed ?

I thought the state pension was based on NI contributions. Provided you have paid the minimum number of NI contributions you are eligible irrespective of where you have worked.

To be eligible for any state pension at all one needs 10 qualifying years on their National Insurance record.

Under the new state pension, which is applicable for men born on or after 6 April 1951 and women born on or after 6 April 1953, one will need 35 qualifying years.

Those within the right age range for the new state pension but have between 10 and 35 qualifying years will only receive a portion of the new state pension.

This was inevitable and the reason I've shoved every spare penny into Livret As .

Wasn't it a reciprocal agreement though? Aussies working and paying here would get credit for theirs back home and Brits out there would do likewise.

Australia and New Zealand was , EU wasn't .

Lt per day with a bonus for week ends. As you say, it makes the posting make sense . I’ve never had a drop of gin in my life, my mum used to drink it and I thought the smell was awful
