Peripheral Neopithy

I have peripheral neuropathy in both feet, the result of a GP not knowing his stuff. IF you have been recently diagnosed and the GP said there is nothing to be done, have a look at your B12 levels, and make sure they are in the upper quarter of the range.

I have numbness in my feet and calves plus severe pain in my right big toe. It's not there all the time but when it is it gets worse in the evening and is sheer murder when I go to bed. My balance is badly affected, such that if I close my eyes I'll start to fall over, If I lost my sight it would be awful. When I walk, I wander a bit. It seems to me that the messages are not getting from my brain to my feet (and vice versa) quickly enough. I saw a neurologist who suggested 2 possible drugs to control the pain, one made me vomit and the other very constipated! I continued with neither.

The neurologist who thought that the probable cause was nerve damage in my back.

My GP ignored my list of symptoms for 18 months, during which time I got more and more ill. He even ignored the goitre, saying it was all in my head. I was too ill to argue.
I ended up in hospital on a drip to bring the thryroid under control. The specialist said I was days away from dying. The GP did not apologise. Along the way it did a lot of damage, including shutting down the nerves to my feet.

Does the big toe thing feel like a red hot needle being inserted under the nail? Mine does...
