Perkins 6534 oil pressure

We used to put straight 30 in the old Leylands. If you put detergent oil in they would burn a quart a day, and show low oil pressure.
I agree with you there 100%
These old tractors we do we use a 20/50 15/40 with no detergents they leak oil for fun does a rope seal with detergent oil.
The cheapest oil possible keep it changed regulary wont be any other in the old lasses.
New stuff is a different kettle of fish the oil grade is extremely important.

You lads are lucky, we find it hard to get straight 30 now, especially locally ................

Our old David Brown's run on 20/30 with no issues.

This was the Castrol Multi Use of old.

We were told once to try some super 15/40 with additives and extras and this and that in it, they started leaking and burning oil like there was no tommorow.

Cheapy old 20/30 does them fine, the lower the spec the better, no fancy additional nonsense, just change it after 100hrs as it says in the book and you'll be ok!

Had issue here with that short shaft on the left side of the engine(whatever its called) having worn out bearings. Put new ones in and it has perfect oil pressure now. Tried replacing the gauge as part of troubleshooting as well.

Do you not have any Morris stockists, @Mursal ? Or Exol?

Some of the big brands have dropped some of these older, now more obscure blends from their range:rolleyes:, but people like Exol will still make them...

We were all Morris , but have gone back to Exol now.
Have to order over £500 worth to get free delivery, but that's not exactly hard! Just takes a bit of planning, so you don't get caught needing the odd can of oil:rolleyes:...consequently we keep lots in stock:D

Incidentally, the straight 30w that you were talking about, is what's goes in the track gearboxes on my latest crawler 360, so it's still used.

No Morris or Exol that I'm aware off, but if you go off the main high volume selling oils with our local stockists, its either not available or costs just that bit more. If we had more competition, it might help .......
But we'll get there .........

Morris stuff used to just come on a pallet, through a pallet network
, not that expensive surely?
Might be worth a call to Morris or Exol , to find out who your nearest stockist is?

Changing the engine oil will not sort any low pressure out , you dont say what year it is or what hours it has done or what oil pressure at what rpm is , if you can get a decent pressure at around the 1000rpm mark you should be ok for now
