Perkins engine for 302.5 cat

The engine has died in my cat 302.5 mini digger it’s a 2002 machine I’ve sourced a 2010 3cyl Perkins engine which looks the same engine bar the rocker cover I think it’s a 403c-15. Will it fit straight in?

did it burn oil, my jcb 6052 of something like that is a bugger for burning oil its a perkins n/a engine.

I should have said it’s out of a generator and it says on the sticker to be used in constant speed situations only!! But I don’t mind it stuck at one speed at all we only use machine 100hrs per year

Ya it was burning oil but lost all compression and would be simpler and cheaper just to swop it out

What oil are you using in Cat for it to burn oil?
Or do you leave it idling for considerable time

Yes I’ve started the engine from cold. My engine is not worth fixing so want to replace it and am wondering if it will fit straight in

The genny engine will be a fixed 1500 rpm,
