Perkins starting problem.

Got a knight self propelled sprayer, with an irregular starting problem which has developed into a not starting issue.
Its a 6 cylinder perkins , with a electronically controlled, variable pressure fuel pump. Not common rail.
Up to now we have replaced the lift pump, which was leaking and needed a new diaphram. Replaced the fuel pump which was my shout, because after talking to a few people in the know, seemed to be the answer. ECU checked out at David King Electronics, its fine. Voltage surge protection unit tested because the wiring diagram suggested all current went through it , and a faulty unit could stop power getting to the fuel pump. Its fine.
A brief history of not starting immediately and then after a little attention including battery charging , jump starting with a starter pack and last resort bleeding at the injectors, would always result in starting and running fine until job completed.
Once started to fill sprayer and then stopped 30 mins later after backing out of filling bay, and started after some of the above.
Last time did the same again, never started since.
I am running out of ideas.
Knight have attended once and isollated all harness other than the engine and said it was deffo an engine issue.
Any help , no matter how complex or basic.
Thanks S

Have you plugged directly into the ECU with a lap top or code reader also you need to check that you have all the relevant earths and 12+ at the correct pins feeding the ECU . The ECU usually has a permanent live which is not fed through the ignition circuit which has to be in good condition.
We have done a fair bit with this type of engine fitted to McCormick tractors and its usually a earth or input voltage problem . The ECU itself gives very little trouble and have never replaced one. Plugging a laptop in would be the first thing I would do just in case its something as simple as a faulty crank sensor. Would have a diagram of pin locations if you need to check for live and earths..
One simple test you can try is to put a meter across the battery and check voltage while cranking. ECU won't work under 10 volts.

Yes injector pump replaced, with a viginised unit, which i am told is the way to do it and then there is no pairing issues.
Tell you what i am fast becoming a diesel fitter, we all take things for granted when they are running well.
This thread is on fire, its normally at least 24 hrs before i get any replies.
Thanks S

Could it be the age old problem of air in the loop?
You say it started after battery boost and injector bleeds. A small air leak on some engines can gradually increase during running and after a little while stop the engine.

Had the same problem with our old knight. The last time it happend it was in the middle of a field. Perkins came out and the lad was green and said it was dirty derv. So got james from knight out said it was the pump. So replaced. Happened again turns out it was the crank sensor

If the pumps give up inside you can still get Devin at injector (just not enough to start) but if you have a new pump I assume you can cross that off.
