meta was horrible stuff dreaded using it!
DDT has a very low ld50 for humans, which is why it was so widely used and recognised as having saved more lives than pennicillin.
but it is horrendous for the planet accepted

The research needs put into context... people don't consume much soil They do however drink plenty of water.... Pesticides can be detected in drinking water but so can significant levels of contraceptive hormones, industrial chemicals, anti-depressants and cocaine to mention only a few.
I went to a nfu meeting a few years ago and they said if the water someone drinks has the maximum permissible limit of pesticide in for there whole life they would have the same amount of toxins in their body as if they had smoked one cigarette or drunk half a bottle of wine !! Just because they can dedect in so tiny amounts it do mean its going to kill you !! As you say put into context.(y)

A recently published study:

Thoughts?

A few observations:

All kitchens, living rooms, toilets, bathrooms, dining rooms, cars, lorries, buses, trains etc in all modern societies will have pesticides in them. All sewers will have pesticides in them.

All supermarkets, food stores, GP surgies, dentists and hospitals will have pesticides in them.

These pesticides will kill 99.99% of all life - including soil bacteria and human cells.

Unsurprisingly farmers use pesticides .. it would be no bloomin use buying a pesticide to put on soil in the vain hope of killing weeds for that pesticide to disappear in short order.

It would be nice for those showing such concern about "Agricultural Land" to instead spend their time healing the damage caused by "Recycling" which has ended up polluting our oceans .. it would also be nice if those who treat human waste didn't also end up polluting rivers - ie micro plastics from washing machines and untreated sewerage.

I have grave doubts that those who say they are "Protecting the environment" are actually doing the complete opposite.

One suspects that is more a result of the ability to detect increasingly small amounts of something, rather than anything that is in anyway detrimental to anyone.
This is true of many compounds these days but doesn't necessarily mean they are not damaging to health.

A large study in Denmark found a statistically significant risk increase for colorectal cancer at 3.87 mg/l nitrate in drinking water, a level unmeasureable a couple of decades ago. It isn't proof but it's very strongly indicative of the dangers of nitrate at very low levels and would help explain the world leading colorectal cancer rate in Christchurch, NZ.
