Recipe for disaster in my view. Don’t they check that similar sounding names aren’t already out there?

They aren’t copies. They do something completely different. And that’s the danger. Get the wrong one in the tank and kill your crop.

I’ll bet there are at least 20 different names for glyphosate. Why not just call it glyphosate?

Yes. It’s a must to carefully check the label. I don’t know why the active isn’t printed larger actually and at least whether it’s a herbicide , fungicide etc. Its as if it’s a secret.

Same size pots and similar packaging is also a recipe for a disaster. I remember an external speaker showing a picture of a half way mature spud crop which had been sprayed with triad rather than titus (similar size pot?).

Some years ago, father sprayed a field of oats with Commando - a grass weed herbicide - with predictable results. His excuse? His intended product also began with the letter C .......he retired from the sprayer shortly afterwards.

There used to be a Starane-alike in exactly the same looking can as a cypermethrin. Beans don’t like Starane at all.

Especially those same size cans that have different weight/volume products in them.

Or cans that have litres marked up the side of the can, but have a solid product inside which is measured in grams/kg.

You should be. i did my PA1 with 2 blokes who couldn't read the cans, one because he wasn't english and the other because he was thick. All the examiner said was, "it's not a test of reading" and read the cans and questions to them. Since that day I have become even more cynical as they both passed and neither was safe to do the job IMO.

The problem these days is if you put the wrong chemical in you are more than likely covering 100 acres per tank. In todays values that's potentially £120,000 of crop

Sorry i dont get it, surely you check and double check whats going in the tank? Never, ever rush filling up and phone is on silent whilst filling. I also ignore anybody who comes up to talk

The operator deserves to be looking for alternative employment as clearly not fit to drive a sprayer
