Pet lambs

Reared a load of pet lambs ( split triplets and odds n sods) this year on a couple of sheperdess feeders. They didn't look back, looking fantastic. Eating creep and on straw. Weaned them 6 weeks no bother, no check and eating creep like its going out of fashion. Id say they are the best looking lambs on the farm. Jabbed with Heptavac on Sunday. Found one on death's door last night shitting water ( dead this morning) and another looks like he's got something on his mind this morning so jabbed him with metacam . It could only be the jab that's upset them? Any thoughts?

It's just what happens with cade lambs - you're very lucky if they all survive.

They look good one day and dead , the next.
Redgut kills a few, pulpy kidney, once weaned the bu99ers gorge themselves on something and die, some commit suicide.... the list is endless.

It's always the good ones that die.

One got Salmonella so then there were eight.

Eight little pet lambs, heard the engine revvin'
But they didn't see the tractor, so now there's only seven.

Seven little pet lambs playing games and tricks,
One hanged in wire netting so now they're down to six.

Six little pet lambs, glad to be alive,
Tried swimming in a water trough and now there's only five.

Five little pet lambs bleating at the door.
Farmer lost his temper and which brought them down to four.

Four little pet lambs, as sweet as they could be
One ate a bag of barley meal and then there were three

Three little pet lambs, wondering what to do,
One set on a ewe who went and sat on it, s that left only two.

Two little pet lambs, having lots of fun,
One died of bloody awkwardness, and then there was one.

One little pet lamb, surprisingly got fat - so we put him in the freezer and that's the end of that!

Are they indoors or out in a paddock with a creep? Naive lambs going out onto a paddock full of freshly hatched nematodirus or cocci can hit them hard.

If they're inside no need to jab them, just get them away at 36 kilo.

I had some pets away last week at 34kg at home came back at 16.5kg

Awful rotten things pet lambs are….usually find them dead after you’ve spent their full value in milk and creep on them

If its any consolation, a dead lamb expands with gas and always looks better than when it was alive.

Saw a dead badger at the roadside earlier today, thought it was a roe deer till I realised it was just blown up. Never thought that with a dead pet lamb!

I had some pets away last week at 34kg at home came back at 16.5kg

They'll have paid well, well worth doing.
Once you get the formula right they do better than the outside lambs don't they.

Got the first going tomorrow, 36kg - 42kg. Lost plenty upto now and plenty of time to lose a load more. They have cost £52 upto now.

Iv lost 5% over a couple of days old (plenty of rubbished died before that). Probably loose the same again upto them all going.

Be £50 with them counted cos they won't have ate anything!

Yes that includes the death. Just worked out the costs and divided by what still alive.

They have just started there second 10t load.
