Well said finally someone that has sense
even though they are talking rubbish
if anyone wants to give me your worthless land I'm more than happy to take it off your hands

No thanks been in the same family for 150 years and always will be in my lifetimeeven though they are talking rubbish

But that’s just romanticism and sentimentality, we all feel it but it is not reality. No thanks been in the same family for 150 years and always will be in my lifetime
But it's not about the amount of land that maybe rewilded, its more about a big portion of the budget likely to go to to bigger, some charitable land owners and not to small family mixed farms like it should.I'm not so sure I want to sign the petition either. The more land that is re wilded, the less there is for food production, and the less food, the higher the price.
Yes, I know folks on here warble on about " critical mass ", and imports, but the number one threat during my farming career has been home grown competition. From those selling round bale hay for £15 / bale ( round ) to those flogging 25kg bags of spuds for £1 / bag.
Your probably right but it will always be in my family whilst I am livingBut that’s just romanticism and sentimentality, we all feel it but it is not reality.
Get it signed! We’ll never get a better price as we can’t compete with cheap imports!I'm not so sure I want to sign the petition either. The more land that is re wilded, the less there is for food production, and the less food, the higher the price.

The other issue with rewilding, is, everyone is obsessed with the big iconic animals or trees for rewilding. Just listening to the end of a radio programe on radio 4 today, and they were saying we have lost 94% of our lowland blanket bog, yet we are obsessed with planting trees, when the bog is the best habitat to sequester carbon we have, and also obsessed with reintroducing sea eagles when there are so many important plants that are in danger of being lost. Made me realise I agree with some environmentalists 100%, just not the Packham/countryfile type!I'm not so sure I want to sign the petition either. The more land that is re wilded, the less there is for food production, and the less food, the higher the price.

obsessed with reintroducing sea eagles
damno! Not sure if she was 'introduced' or flew here from the Isle of Wight, but a huge sea eagle was perched in a semi dead tree in the middle of our farm yesterday.
Lambing starts in a month's time.
