Because I'm going through to take out cleavers and Charlock so want to take it out rather than hit it abit and see it recover.

It's thicker in parts of the field.

What would be the advantage in leaving it in ?

nice little companion crop and a bit more mycrohizal promotion, we gets bit growing around from previous cover crop n thought it was right to try n take them out, crop seemed to be better last year where it had a bit extra companion in it.. we drill our oats with clover and any ressidual cover crop that happens to not have died off is left in too now. obvioulsly you don't want a field thick of cleavers n such so would likely have to be sprayed out

I would have thought whatever you use to take out the cleavers & Charlock will also take out the phacelia.

So Ally/Starane or CMPP would probably be fine
